Sir Cliff Richard's Song For Children's Promise
Raises Half A Million Pounds!
Once again Cliff proves he is Top Of The Pops! His 'Milennium Prayer', with every penny of artist's fees going to the Children's Promise, was the Number One best selling record in Britain for three weeks!! It was also the Christmas Number One in Australia!
Sadly, we will never know how much the Children's Promise song could have raised if almost all radio stations in Britain including BBC radio, hadn't refused to play it. It seems, in Britain today, to be a decent human being, to make hit records that thousands of people buy, to donate all the profits to Children, is cause for scorn and ridicule.
Not only is 'Millennium Prayer' a song for the Children's Promise, it is a song expressing our hopes for the future. Personally, I feel the last verse says it all...
The Millennium Prayer
(sung to the tune of Auld Lang Syne)
Let all the people say Amen,
In every tribe and tongue.
Let every heart's desire be joined,
To see the kingdom come.
Let every hope and dream,
Be born in love again.
Let all the world sing with one voice,
Let the people say Amen. |

However, as we who love him dearly were not surprised to hear, Cliff's generosity and committment to helping others did not stop there. With NINE
'Countdown To The Millennium Concerts', at the NIA, Birmingham, starting on 17th December and finishing on New Year's Eve, the world's best loved Pop Star has donated all monies raised to The Children's Promise.
Quote:
- "The eve of the year 2000 will be unforgettable for those lucky to
join Cliff Richard at the NIA, where the Countdown Concerts
conclude with a glittering gala performance in aid of charity. The
ticket price reflects the fund-raising aims of this unique event and
includes an exclusive celebration pack containing a collectors'
brochure, a millennium gift from Cliff, and an exciting collection of
party fun."
